Deep Red

Deep Red

Okay, I found one more image that worked from yesterday’s rose garden outing.   Also, there is an image I had high hopes for, but in the end doesn’t work for me.  The more interesting part to me is the action that happened where i wasn’t looking (or focused for that matter).  Oh I wish I had seen it when it was going down!  That is the one drawback to the remote shutter release. 🙂

  2. I posted it to StumbleUpon as well. I suspect others will enjoy it as I did. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Do you sell any of your photos?

    • I have all of my images on SmugMug, but I haven’t officially ‘sold’ any. Nobody’s really asked. Thanks for posting to SU, and keep visiting, I post something almost every day. I try to share the good and bad with the images I’m working on and I love feedback and commentary (good and bad) :).

  3. Darnit! Exactly what I had planned this afternoon, with the roses I have on my dining table! But, they probably won’t make it onto my blog for a while anyway.

This is beautiful. Really nice light! Reminds me of this one bu I like the lighting in yours much better.
I like the backlighting in the second one, too.

    • LOL. I think I recently read something, and I am paraphrasing here, “post before your read other blogs.” I can’t remember where I read that. I think it was thedailyshutterpress or something. 😉 Thanks! I like that image of yours as well, it leave plenty to the imagination which really makes it work. It’s almost like a bridge of rose petals.

  5. Gorgeous lighting on that awesome rose! Oh so very ‘twilight-ish’ and all. 😉

It is hard to see, so what is exactly happening in the second shot??

    May 16, 2010 at 8:44 pm

    • I’ll take the compliment. I’ll cringe at the twilight comparison. 🙂

The second shot, in the full image, you can see a small gnat fly or something. Then, a couple seconds later, the larger bug arrived (in the callout) and attacked the small bug.

I really like your rose. The dark background is very complementary. Nicely done. Thank you for the kind comments on my blog as well! Thank you for stopping by!

Well, photography is all about capturing light and you’ve captured it superbly here. Such wonderful deep colours and shadows – a feast of deep, deep reds. And I know all too well where you’re coming from with regards to the bug on the bud :^)
